I pre-ordered this in the Disney Movie Club since it was a big hit in my household and I have a purchasing commitment to fulfill in the DMC.

One local reviewer writing for a family magazine panned the film for bizarre reasons, so I'm glad to read you "got it" even though you aren't a 13-year old girl.

I watched Turning Red on D+. And I’ve stopped buying Disney discs so long as I’ve got D+ subscription. But if someone doesn’t have D+, they should give a look at renting or buying the disc. It was a fun, strange, unexpected story. It’s not for everyone, but I figure if a middled age white guy can enjoy it, most anyone can find something to connect to if they’re willing to allow for that.

If you want to get meta, consider a triple feature of Coda, Turning Red, and Everything Everywhere All At Once.

There are some strong themes shared between these very different, delightful movies.
