Well my Panasonic 47 in RPTV is just a year old. I received 2 calls for extended warranties. One was from Boscovs where I bought it and the other from Panasonic. I don't remember exactly but both were in the $400 range for 2 more years. I turned them both down. I paid $999 for the TV on clearance and it just didn't seem worth it, so it will probably break tomorrow. I'm Italian and I know there is some cousin of mine that works on TV's.
There is a small lesson here, The decision to purchase an extended warranty does not have to be made at the time of purchase. This is not the first thing I've bought recently that resulted in warrantw offers after the warranty expiration. Hope this helps a little. Take care.

I agree with your decision to decline the extended warranty. If an extended warranty were worth buying, then it would not be for sale.
