HELLO THERE I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAS GOTTEN THEIR TUMULT SUB AND TRYED IT IN WHATEVER ENCLOSURE THAT THEY HAD BUILT?
I AM CURIOUS AS TO THE SOUND QUALITY AND QUANTITY,
DO THEY COMPARE WITH COMMERCIAL SUBS FROM THE LIKES OF SVS HSU ETC. OR IS IT DIFFICULT TO GET THAT KIND OF QUALITY OF SOUND WITH THIS WOOFER. THANX FOR ANY INFO.[IMG]

  2. VERY FEW PEOPLE HAVE RECIEVED A TUMULT YET. IF WE ASSUME THAT THE TUMULT HAS THE SAME BUILD QUALITY AND DISTORTION LEVELS AS THE OTHER XBL DRIVER, NAMELY THE BRAHMA'S, THEN YES, YOU CAN EXPECT SOME VERY GOOD THINGS WITH THESE DRIVERS. I WOULD DEFINATELY EXPECT THE DISTORTION LEVELS AND LINEARITY TO EXCEED THAT OF HSU AND SVS. HOWEVER, SVS AND DOES NOT SELL JUST THE DRIVERS. YOU CAN ONLY OBTAIN THEM IF YOU ALREADY OWN THE SUB AND ARE SWAPPING OUT. HSU DOES OFFER A DRIVER THAT HAS BEEN USED SUCESSFULLY IN THE DIY COMMUNITY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT GETTING A COMPLETED TUMULT SUB, THEN YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO ACOUSTIC-VISIONS.COM THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WHO WILL ALSO BUILD YOU A COMPLETED TUMULT SUB. BRIAN BUNGE IS ONE THAT COMES TO MIND. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT

SO THE END OF THE STORY IS, IT IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO GET 'THAT TYPE' OF SOUND QUALITY. THE TUMULT WILL EASILY DO IT (AND SURPASS THEM IMP), BUT THE TUMULT IS NOT CHEAP$.

HOPE THAT HELPS IN SOME WAY

...wow...my voice hurts from all that yelling [IMG]

Ssshh!! Let's tone it down a little eh? Do a search on the "Tumult" and all of your questions will be answered. Now, isn't that better than typing like

    THIS!!!!!!

    INSANITY
Built this for a local on this forum.
And well my little PE 794 amp just did not make this thing work to its out put limits[IMG]

But after a delivery to the owner and wired to a 800 watt Crest and after a breaf listen I was stunned to say the least.

WELL, IF YOU'RE A BUDGET-MINDED KINDA GUY, YOU CAN BUILD A TEMPEST SONOSUB TUNED TO 17.5 HZ (DAN WIGGINS' RECOMMENDATION) AND IT WILL HIT HARD, KICK ASS, DROP JAWS AND GENERALLY WREAK HAVOC.
IT THUMPS SO HARD, YOU'LL WANT TO PUT IT IN THE TRUNK OF YOUR RIDE, HOMES. I CAN GET YOU A GOOD DEAL ON A L-O-N-G EXTENSION CORD.

Tony: you're right, the old voice box hurts after yelling so much. I need a shot of tequila.[IMG]

There are three things in life we can all count on: death, taxes, and Hank's tequila recommendations! [IMG]

BTW, Jack, my wife was staring at me like I was crazy as I laughed out loud for several minutes after reading your post! I don't think it helped any when I tried to explain why I was laughing. [IMG]

Tony: the smoothest affordable tequila is Sauza's Hornitos. Green label. As with other liquor, never, never ever, buy anything from the bottom shelf at the liquor store. You know, the plastic bottle stuff.[IMG]
And, next time I go to So Cal, I'LL TAKE YOU UP ON YOUR OFFER[IMG]

SO CRAIG, HOW DOES THE SUB SOUND? ANY DETAILS, AT ALL?
ARE YOU SORRY FOR SPENDING THE MONEY TO HAVE THIS BUILT FOR YOU OR WAS IT A GOOD INVESTMENT OF YOUR HARD EARNED CASH.
I COME HERE TO TRY AND GET SOME PERTINENT INFO FROM SO CALLED EXPERTS ON THE SUBJECT OF SUBS AND ALL I GET FOR MY EFFORT IS A BUNCH OF CHILDISH GUMP. GOD, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HELP THEN JUST PLEASE DONT REPLY TO THIS POST. I FOR ONE WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE TO GET SOME OPINIONS FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE ACTUALLY HEARD A TUMULT SUB IN ACTION, TO SEE IF ITS WORTH THE TIME AND MONEY TO BUILD ONE. I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME BUILDING SOMETHING THAT MY SVS SUB WOULD JUST STOMP ON. SO FAR I GUESS THE GENERAL CONCENSUS HERE IS THAT
YOU ALL THINK THE TUMULT WILL PERFORM GOOD BUT YOU HAVE NO ACTUAL EXPERIENCE WITH ONE. I KNOW FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE
THAT JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE THINK SOMETHING IS GONNA BE GREAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL BE. MAYBE I SHOULD I SHOULD JUST GET AN ULTRA FROM SVS, PROVEN PERFORMANCE. IT'LL PROBABLY STOMP
ON A TUMULT SUB ANYWAY. AND ITS PROBABLY AROUND THE SAME PRICE AS ANY TUMULT BASED DIY SUB.
SO FOR ANYONE WHO HAS SOME USABLE INFO I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
THE REST OF YOU ,I DON'T KNOW IF YOUR JUST ANAL OR A$$HOOLES.

  15. Joseph, if you think your Ultra will stomp a Tumult, you are SADLY mistaken. how about I buy you 2 ultras, and you buy me an Everest [IMG]

and I am an A$$HOOLES [IMG] but just to you [IMG]

..oh..I forgot to yell so you can hear..so hear you go again:

    A$$HOOLES...
    Is that Spanish?

OK, now to be helpful. Do a search; get some info that's already out there; ask direct, quantifiable questions; please don't use all caps (My mother used all caps once...once.), and I think you'll find patient, clear germane answers to any questions you pose. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE USE THE DAMN SPELLCHECK.

    Tequilla, please.

well anthony how do you know a tumult sub will be comparable to an SVS ultra. have you actually heard both of them to be able to give an educated opinion?
have you actually heard any sub at all? bose doesn't count.
