Because of some critical opinions in another thread about Night People, I watched it again last night. I still think it's a interesting story and I love the movie. Rita Gam has a supporting role and it's time she re-appeared in this thread:

She wasn't photographed with any great care in Night People but her very individual face was still striking. In her first film, The Thief with Ray Milland, her legs were as noticeable as her face.

I'm surprised more films did not show them off!

Was Gam her real name?

WIth legs like those, it seems a legit question... :D
According to the not 100% reliable IMDB, Gam was her step father's surname and Rita assumed that name when her mother remarried.

It's an interesting point that in the decades I've been aware of Rita Gam I've never before recognized that there's a possible play on words concerning her name!

Ann Savage is remembered by most film enthusiasts for only one movie; Detour made on a shoe string in 1945. Her performance as Vera is celebrated as one the best depictions of female villainy in movies.

Although she appeared in many other films, they are mostly forgotten and are seldom screened. It is difficult to see any of her films other than Detour.

There is some controversy about Ann Savage's looks. Although her unglamourised appearance in Detour showed her unflatteringly and is the image most people now have of her, she was in fact a good looking woman.

I'd welcome a chance to see more of her movies.

I took these DVD screen caps from a 1969 episode of Mannix...though I wish they were more revealing, still a nice look at Yvonne's pretty face and beautiful blue eyes...

Most excellent!

Remember, Randall..."the eyes are the window to the soul." :D

She was such a young, sexy stunner.

In tribute to Dawn Wells, one of the cutest "girl next door" types from the '60s, who sadly has just passed away.

Nicely said Jeff.

I was heartbroken to hear the financial difficulties she faced in her later years (she never got any "syndication money" because Gilligan's Island didn't last 100 episodes, it ran 98!!!)
and I saw her at local comic cons multiple times as a media guest. Had I known then I would have bought 5 glossies with autographs to support her. And now I regret not meeting her!

Thanks Dawn for the nostalgic TV memories of such an iconic fun TV show, and R.i.P.

Jeanette Lee "Black Widow" professional billiards player was tragically diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I watched her play pool all through the 90's. She is amazing, so masterful, and always sexy in her black leather pants. The news of her cancer is so sad. She has three young children.
