Interesting that there are over twice as many posts in this thread than the Blondes thread. This supports my view that gentlemen prefer brunettes and find them more attractive and mysterious. I am, however, married to a blonde lady!

I'll do what I can to fill out the Blondes thread with more pictures. Let's see: Joi Lansing, Mamie Van Doren, Kim Novak, Jayne Mansfield, Ursula Andress . . . .

My memory, it seems, has been playing tricks on me because I was sure I had posted a picture of Martha Vickers. I've been right through this entire thread and there's not one picture of her. So, and long overdue . . . . .

She worked at Warner Brothers in the '40s in several films, most famously as the nympho younger daughter in The Big Sleep.

In her late teens and early twenties, Elizabeth Taylor had one of the most beautiful and interesting faces ever. I've always thought her beauty faded a bit once she was in her late twenties . . . . . . and have annoyed some of her fans by saying so!

I find this photo awe-inspiring. For me, Elizabeth makes most of today's contenders seem pretty feeble.

Michele Carey was a likable young actress who appeared in a few films in the late 1960s. The one which has passed the test of time is El Dorado. She was also In The Sweet Ride which deserves a proper release on disc.

As this photo makes clear, Michele Carey was a very good-looking actress and I have always been sorry she did not make more films.

I always liked Julie Adams and regret that rarely worked with directors with the ability to get the best out of actresses. I would have loved to have seen her in a Douglas Sirk movie!

Ella Raines:

Ella Raines in: TALL IN THE SADDLE-1944. She played a tough westerner, but for the publicity photos, she donned shorts. She does not wear that outfit in the movie. The shorts made it to some of the posters even though the movie was set in the Old West.

Damn Bob, you almost had me blow a gasket looking at those photos of Ella Raines.

Right now, I'm watching Arrow's new Blu-ray of "Phantom Lady" that came in the mail today. I fell in love with her when I was about 10 years old while watching "Tall in the Saddle", one of Wayne's most underrated films and among my top five favorite films from him. I wish she done more movies with Wayne as they had good film chemistry together. It's not quite Maureen O'Hara, but it's pretty damn good.
