Looks like there's a new edition of The Transporter coming to DVD on Aug 30. The new specs seem to include, most notably, a DTS soundtrack. I might finally break down and pick this one up since Transporter 2 looks like it might be some crazy fun stuff. Here's the cover art Amazon has up:

Hopefully it'll have a Transporter 2 ticket. That cover art is lame-hope it's far from final. I liked the original/poster art. They should've redone that with foil or something. Anyway, more Statham KA+TN=good thing

I wonder if it'll be a Full Bitrate DTS track like the R2J disc has.

I forgot to mention in my post above that both Best Buy and Circuit City are also advertising that their copies this week will also include the movie ticket to see Transporter 2. (Up to $7.50 value, quantities limited, yada yada yada...)

Go to CC and buy the DVD for $13...get the $7.50 coupon to see T2 (which you're planning on seeing anyway...) and, voila, you've got the DVD for a net cost of $5.50! [IMG]

Anyway, that's how I plan on explaining it to the wife if she asks me! :b

The trailer for T2 on apple.com looks great! A full minute-and-a-half of mind-numbing action! Transporter is one of my 15 year old sons favorites.

DTS is tempting, but only $7.50 off T2? Still might not double dip.

Well, seeing as how I have already "lost" my original copy to my son anyway...I figure its probably worth it. [IMG]

    Really, dear.:b

I "gave" my son my original Spidey discs as an excuse to upgrade both titles to the SBs when they came out. Same with the LOTR originals after the EEs were released. See the method to my madness?!

Good method...now I just need a son. Still may hold off, in anticipation of all those big September and October releases. But for 1st-dippers, this is a great deal.

Well, seeing as how mine is 15...I'd probably let him go for a pretty good price if someone made me a good offer. [IMG]

But then I'd miss my chance to see all these good action flicks which, heretofore, I NEVER got a chance to see...because the wife hates 'em.

I wonder how the new DTS track compares to the DD on the original release. Anyone had a chance to compare them?

Best Buy's Sunday ad was confusing, because they're featuring the old release? DVDaficionado had the release date pegged as 8/30, also.

I have the original release and the dd track is not to great. Some of the explosions sequences lack deep bass. I wonder if the dts track improved this? I'd upgrade if it does but I don't want to buy it just to find out.

Well, since I've never bought this movie and I can get it for $14.99 with a free ticket to Transporter 2 I think I'll just go ahead and pick it up at Best Buy today. It will only end up costing me like $7 or $8 in the long run.

Does anyone know if the extra footage is reincorporated into the film or just an extra like on the previous dvd?

It's not incorporated into the film.

I picked it up. A/V is good. I'll need to find a copy to compare this to the original.

    Rats.

The original had both widescreen and fullscreen on a flipper, plus extras. I hope that the picture quality has improved since the new one drops the fullscreen.

The fullscreen was on the flip side so it wouldn't matter anyway. The PQ is very good. Many are saying it's equal.

I will compare the audio when I get a chance.
