As the above. When is it coming out?
No announcements or even rumors yet that I've heard of. Sorry.
I have a four year old who's "desperate" for it, though!
September/October is when it was solicited for in Diamond Previews
The original date was 9/24, but when we spoke to Rhino about a month ago, they stated that it was probably going to be pushed back until early 2003, but they were unsure. Now, at the Botcon, Hasbro reps mentioned that Season 2 might be out in September, but to not quote them on that.
I'm glad they are trying to release this, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this announced for the Holidays.
Hopefully they can improve on some of the problems from the first set. I'd like to see some improved menus, and better organization of the Special Features disc. The S1 special features disc was totally disorganized and could have been so much more. Hopefully they will continue to improve the quality of the releases in light of the great sales of S1.
I've heard they might be spliting the second season into two boxsets. Though it is just a rumor.
Just saw the same thing on davisdvd. They say half in November and Half in February with a price of $89.99. If this is true, November is really going to be expensive!
You can always wait for February 2003
MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!!
Not a chance!
The Transformers split up news was delivered to us on Sunday night by a comiccon attendee. Here is what he had to say:
I would assume that with doing half the season and putting it on 4 discs, they'll keep it at the same price as the first season. I'll buy it no matter what.
I would also buy it at any price the day it comes out but I think the $89.99 price is accurate since each volume of Season 2 wil have 1.5 times the episodes of Season 1.
Season 1 - 16 episodes - $59.95
Season 2.1 - 24 episodes - $89.99?
Season 2.2 - 25 episodes - $89.99?
Not that I would mind $59.95 for Season 2 though
Daniel, to me that pricing sounds about right.
They could end up shooting themselves in the foot, charging $89.99. Some people won't pay it. Which means they might be discouraged to release the next boxset due to poor sales. I'm thinking about how the x-files set a $149.99 for all the boxsets regardless if it has 6 discs (season 5) or 7 discs (seasons 1-4) True they have more episodes, but they have the same total discs. I haven't heard a official announcment from Rhino. Remember the first boxset went through many different prices before they decided on 59.99. I remember hearing season 1 selling for 99.99. Anyway that's more then my 2 cents
I hear what you're saying Ben but I also think Rhino knows how badly we want Transformers on DVD so they probably could get away with a higher price with people like us. I'd still be plenty happy if it was $59.99 though.
What would really be great too is if they could start releasing all the Japanese series that we've missing out on here in the U.S. after they come out with Season 3. I don't know if anyone in U.S. even owns the rights to these but it would be great if they could bring them over here.
It would also be great if the original Transformers voice actors could do an English dub for these but that probably will never happen either. (The VHS tapes I have of Headmasters are just random people and it's weird hearing Optimus Prime and everyone else voiced by other people.)
According to TFormers.com, Part I will be out on November 12 on 4 discs with the extras on disc 4.
This is gonna be awesome day (although very heavy on the wallet ) - LOTR gift set, Star Wars Episode II, South Park Season One, and now Transformers Season Two!
Has anyone seen the R2 Japanese DVD release of the original series? I know that there is no English language track on it, but how well done is the transfer? Just curious, since I don't really care for Rhino's half-assed effort in the R1 releases (I want the whole ass, damnit!). There must be a bunch of monkeys working there...
Daniel, I don't see Rhino releasing any of the Japanese TF. At least untill they've release all of Beast Wars and Beast Machines and possibly RID. From what I understand Rhino has the rights to all that is the Transformers at least for home video.
I don't see it either, but it would be great if it were to happen eventually.
