In the special features from the Lawrence of Arabia DVD, the one with the canvas cover, there's a trailer for the movie Bridge on the River Kwai. At some point during this trailer, the narrator says something like, "From the producer and director of Lawrence of Arabia." Since Bridge came five years before Lawrence, how is that possible?

The trailer was not from the original release, it was from a re-release after LOA came out. In those days, if a studio had a hit on hits hands they usually would re-release other older films by the same director or with the same stars. Usually, they'd update the trailer to mention the newer film. If you look closely at the fine print at the bottom of the screen it might say something like "A Columbia Re-release". You don't see that anymore because by the time the newer film is out the older ones have been out on video for years.
