My god, this movie was so important in my childhood, with Sean Astin (Sam, in the Lord of the Rings). A classic!

All we get on DVD is a cheap Full Screen transfert... I'm not complaining about the inexistences of bonus features, all I want is a descent widescreen 1.85:1 ratio formatted in 16/9.

Do you think TriStar Pictures will re-release this title?

This is the first movie that I actually went to see by myself. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable the movie was. I'd like to see this with a OAR transfer as well! [IMG]

Ya I was really looking forward to it. When I found out it was FF I passed on it. It's a shame too, I'd love to own it.

I already own it on 4:3 Laserdisc, which doesnt bother me since I got it for free, but I will hold onto that copy until a proper widescreen DVD comes out. Sony won't be getting any of my money for a lackluster product such as this disc. [IMG]

This is another one of those films that a studio always seems to neglect into virtual obscurity. Another seems to be The Monster Squad, where the hell is that already as well!?

I love Toy Soldiers, saw it in theaters at the peak of my love of the Die Hard type of action films. One would have thought that the studio would have wanted to cash in on Sean Astin's huge role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, however they went about it the wrong way with the current fool-screen release.

Won't touch it until it's in it's OAR.

I also passed on this title because it was fullscreen.

Eagerly waiting for the OAR version.

odd Sony just released a fullscreen of this title since day one, instead of the usual (both widescreen and fullscreen, then 6 month later reduced to fullscreen only for K-mart) deal. If I remember correctly, the LD was fullscreen too, so I am guessing these fullscreen presentation is just open matte. Still, it is not in it's proper OAR.

They released this after they had already become the "New" Sony.

I was sure to read a re-release at the time of the LOTR hype, but not, they never revisited the movie on DVD... They have too, this film is pretty good!

And me too, I'll never buy it if it's fullscreen only, even if it's an open matte and not a cropped version. OAR only!

Doubt it. SONY is too busy taking away Widescreen transfers.
