I got my DVD of Ruthless People today, and it was non-anamorphic. I'm very disappointed in this decision and will take caution before buying any more catalogue titles from you again.

Are you going by the box art?

Because if you are...you are in for a shock.

These titles are confirmed to be 16:9 -

    Dick Tracy

    Ruthless People

    Three Men and A Baby

    Tin Men

However, Three Men and A Little Lady is presented in open-matte.

Hopefully the long thread of titles coming from them will not suffer the same fate.

Disney's home video department must really have gone in the dumper. It seems everything they touch goes bad. They can't get the DVD cases labeled right nor can they get the press releases out on new product. There is so much confustion on the Dick Tracy DVD that many retailers don't even know it exists.

I was in Circuit City, Best Buy and a large local dealer yesterday and none had Dick Tracy or had heard of it coming out. As of today, a number of etailers still list it as "on order".

I suppose Disney will say "Gee, we put it out 16X9 and with a DTS track and nobody bought it". How do these people keep thier jobs?

Well then I withdraw my comment, because I haven't watched the disc.

I just read a review at A Guide to Current DVD where they indicated Ruthless People IS anamorphic. Are you going by the packaging, or have you actually looked at the disc?

What's disturbing about the new trend not to list anamorphic enhancement or not is that there will be non-anamorphic widescreen DVDs that people will then assume are 16:9 enhanced. Then there are P&S-only DVDs like "Taking Care of Business", etc.
