whats the hold up?
Universal is still behind the other studios. They're finally releasing a pre-80s film on Blu this May with Spartacus.
That set is perfect. I cannot imagine Universal releasing three versions of the film on HD soon. So grab the DVD set when possible.
Yes late to Bd, but was doing great in HDDVD, i do think that Spartacus is a test for them, sort of see how classics will go on Bd. What i thought they would be doing is the Legacy Series/SE titles would be the first ones out of the gate as classics from universal on blu The Sting Imitation of Life Dracula (1931) Frankenstein Double Indemnity The Deer Hunter The Mummy (1932) Schindler's List Touch Of Evil The Wolfman (1941) and assorted Hitchcock
True, they released a lot of catalog HD-DVDs. But they were being supplemented by Toshiba to do so, and many of those catalog title were rather mediocre in quality.
