Toslink cable connection query (1 Viewer)

I have a Toslink connection between my satellite receiver
and my AV receiver but I have noticed that when I use the AV receiver whilst watching satellite programming the audio
is coming from the analog connection between my RPTV and AV receiver, is this Toslink providing anything to the audio or have I got my cable setup wrong? My cable TV goes to the satellite receiver and then out to the RPTV, can I just direct the cable tv to the RPTV and cut out the satellite receiver? thanks in advance for any suggestions

What receiver do you have? There is a benefit to the toslink so don't give that up. You probably just need to assign the digital connection on the receiver to the right input or change around the connections a bit.

Thanks for your suggestion, I assigned the "CD" digital input to the satellite toslink and checked it by removing the analog audio link and I can now get improved audio!
