Stopped in to Tweeter today to check out the widescreen projection TV's and it seemed like the Toshiba was the largest RPTV in my price range. I think I WANT a Hitachi, but I can't seem to find a place that sells them. Anyway...

    ...any concerns with the Toshiba?
    ...things you like/don't like?
    ...picture quality?
    ...views from angles?
    ...enough inputs/outputs?
    ...how does it handle DVD/HDTV?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

    I really like the Toshs.

There are 2 issues with them, some people find these to be deal breakers.

    1. converts all 480 signals to 540P. When doing this there is a loss of resolution (detail).

    2. There is a ghosting / edge enhancement issue.

    Regards

    Gregg

I have the Toshiba 57HX81, and think it is a great set. While I agree with Gregg that they have the aforementioned problems, for me they are a non-issue.

The picture quality is great. DVD's look stunning, (I'm using the RP-91), and HD programing via the TU-HDS20 STB is breathtaking. The Winter Olympics on HDNet were incredible.

Viewing distance: I sit about 9 feet from the TV.

Inputs: it has 2 component inputs, which is great so video switching via receiver is not needed.

    Good luck

Vlad, Gregg...thanks for the information. I'm still looking and researching a few more spots. More and more I see myself settling for the Toshiba (i hate settling), when I really want a Pioneer.
