I think it depends on what model you are looking at. That may help get some answers.

Both are excellent manufacturers. And various models have various strengths and weaknesses. Your task is to choose the model that achieves the best-possible compromises in the price point you're looking at.

I just recommended to my friend to buy Hitachi or Toshiba as the Toshiba's we looked at did not have auto convergence nor did they accept 720p. I also really like the picture quality of the Hitachi's.

I have had Hitachi computer monitors for years, even refurbished ones and they are all excellent and quality monitors.

Both sets offer a form of auto convergence, but neither is very good. In both cases, manual convergence work is always recommended.

Toshiba units generally are less money than the Hitachi units ...
