Or is it a previous one? It costs less than the 40H80, so I assume it's an earlier model, but I haven't seen it in their inventory before. What gives?

That is the version before the 40H80, which is being replaced, soon, by the 42H81. Actually that is a terrible price for a 2 year old set.
Hope this helps.

I was just at the local Best Buy tonight & they had the 40H80 for $1800, and also has a Panasonic 47(forget the model number) for the same price.
That seems a bit high for the TW40x81.

MickeS,
Print out the page with the price from onecall.com and take it to your local Sears. They'll pricematch and you won't have to pay so much for shipping.
Just a little tip from your uncle Denny! :)

Nope! Sears does not carry either the 40H80 or the 40X81, nor will they carry the 42H81. (God, could they have made these models any more confusing?)
The ONLY widescreen Toshiba offered by that chain is the 50H81. No more, no less. A darned nice set, and a steal if you can match an online price for that one.
