Toshiba SD4700 and Dual Layer DVD (1 Viewer)

Can someone confirm wheather my player has a problem or somewhere I missed the fact that this player (SD-4700)

can't simply play Dual-layer disc...

Paul,

I have the 5700, which plays dual-layer DVDs just fine. Since these are essentially the same player (w/ one minor diff), I'd suggest trying a different disk to determine if it's a player or disk issue.

Paul - Some people have reported that the Toshiba SD4700/5700 have problems with the SECOND "Ten Commandments" disc. I can confirm this with my 4700. It will NOT play disc #2. It's the only disc in my 200+ DVD collection that the player has ever experienced difficulty with. It handles dual-layer discs (the vast majority of DVD releases) with no problems whatsoever.
