TOSHIBA NOW SHIPPING THE ULTIMATE IN LED TV PICTURE QUALITY TO HOME THEATER INSTALLERS WITH ITS FIRST LED TV SERIES REGZA® SV670 Cinema Series® boasts FocaLight™ technology with Local Dimming, and ClearScan 240™ motion enhancement, demonstrating best-in-class viewing experience Atlanta — September 9, 2009 — Toshiba America Consumer Products L.L.C. (“Toshiba”), a market leader in LCD TVs, is demonstrating its state-of-the-art SV670 Cinema Series® LED TV to home theater installers at CEDIA. This next generation of Toshiba’s premium REGZA® HDTV Series combines the most advanced picture technology, Toshiba’s unmatched REGZA® processing power and stunning design. As the focal point of Toshiba’s CEDIA exhibit, the SV670 offers a highly immersive viewing experience that elevates home entertainment to an all-new level. While standard edge LED is good, the Toshiba SV670 incorporates superior FocaLight™ Full Matrix LED with Local Dimming. Full Matrix creates better brightness uniformity, especially noticeable in dark rooms. More importantly, Local Dimming produces amazingly deep blacks without sacrificing any peak white brightness for the most dynamic picture possible. “All LED TVs are not created equal.” said Scott Ramirez, Vice President of TV Marketing at Toshiba. “The SV670 Cinema Series® was created to provide state-of-the-art picture quality by combining multiple best-in-class technologies. With technologies like our FocaLight™ Full Matrix LED with Local Dimming, ClearScan 240™ motion enhancement, PixelPure® 5G 14 Bit video processing, and Resolution+™ super resolution technology, our engineers utilized a combination of science and art to create a masterpiece.” For a custom installer searching for excellence in LED high-definition technology, Toshiba’s SV670 series has an extended array of cutting-edge features: ClearScan 240™ Motion Enhancement Toshiba’s new ClearScan 240™ technology combines 120 frames per second with advanced Backlight Scanning Technology to create a 240Hz effect. Far superior to 60Hz or standard 120Hz systems, ClearScan 240™ is an ideal choice for installers in need of fast-motion video clarity. Infinity Flush Front™ For a CEDIA installer looking for a high-end look that stands out while blending in, the SV670 is ideal. This series is the first to combine the Deep Lagoon™ Design with the Infinity Flush Front™. Inspired by nature, Deep Lagoon™ evokes the image of sand disappearing below the surface of calm shores. The unique Infinity Flush Front™ then adds an edge-to-edge anti-reflective front panel, reminiscent of an infinity pool. Invisible speakers further enhance the sleekness of Deep Lagoon’s Design. Together, these new design elements create a stunning appearance that enhances any home décor. Dolby® Volume First-class entertainment means high quality video and audio. Therefore, the SV670 series also includes new Dolby® Volume sound leveling and Audyssey EQ. Toshiba is the first HDTV brand to incorporate Dolby® Volume, a new technology that uses acoustic algorithms to ensure a consistent volume level, even during commercials or when changing channels. The algorithms monitor the audio during programs, when commercials start, and when changing channels. Louder programming is brought down, while lower programming is brought up ensuring a consistent volume level with full dynamic range at all times. Next Generation Connectivity The SV670 provides a custom installer with a full set of advanced connectivity options. The SV670 incorporates an expanded array of connectivity features including a USB port for playback of digital video, audio and picture files, an SD card slot for playback of digital picture files, four HDMI™ inputs with InstaPort™ for faster switching, and REGZA-LINK® for two-way device control, an IR Pass-Through Port to control source devices that may be hidden in a cabinet or closet, and a high-resolution PC input that allows you to use the TV as a big-screen PC monitor for multimedia or gaming. CrystalCoat™ Extra room light can lower the contrast on some TVs, but with the SV670’s CrystalCoat™ feature, you don’t have to worry. CrystalCoat™ stops ambient room light reflections from washing out the picture, creating 30% better contrast in bright rooms.* With CrystalCoat, CEDIA installers don’t need to worry about room lighting conditions, as consumers can enjoy the deep high contrast REGZA® picture in all room light conditions. The Improved REGZA® Engine
Installers searching for quality processing can trust in Toshiba’s tradition of excellence, especially when it comes to the REGZA® Engine.
The power behind Toshiba’s fifth generation engine, PixelPure® 5G, is the heart of the SV670. With a 14-bit internal digital video processor, gradation is increased, creating smoother, clearer images. Ongoing enhancements like the new 2D Chroma enhancement, 2D Luma enhancement, dynamic sharpness and adaptive noise reduction mean that PixelPure continues to lead in processing technology. If PixelPure® 5G is the heart of the REGZA® engine, then Resolution+™ super resolution technology is the soul, bringing images to life with complex image enhancement. This next generation Resolution+™ technology uses a proprietary processing system to improve 480i, 480p, and even 720p image detail for enhanced video quality when watching DVDs, TV channels, camcorder videos, video games, or even PC images that are less than full HD. Not just simple scaling, Resolution+ uses complex image correction to enhance the detail of each image, making everything feel like HD. AutoView™ for the Best Settings Automatically Toshiba’s AutoView™ feature helps ensure an ideal image at all times of the day. Unlike basic auto brightness controls, AutoView combines an ambient room light sensor with incoming video content monitoring, to automatically set most of the TV picture parameters. Brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness and color saturation are all adjusted to create the optimal picture for all lighting conditions. Color Master™ Color Control The SV670 provides additional flexibility for the installer looking to really customize a consumer’s viewing experience. Toshiba's Color Master™ provides a responsive color palette adjustment technology. Installers can choose from one of six basic colors, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Magenta, or Cyan. In addition, the control offers hue, saturation, and brightness sliders for expert adjustment. Expert Mode Among other features, the Expert Mode gives home theater installers access to the panel’s deepest configuration settings. The menu enables the user to set the SV670 to display only one of the three primary colors - red, green, or blue, allowing for optimal color adjustment, and also allows fine control of the AutoView brightness histogram. NativeMode™ Native Mode™ displays the 3% to 5% of the image that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs in most TVs, eliminating unnecessary scaling. IR Pass Through A TV of this caliber would not be complete without the ability for clean and easy installation. Toshiba’s SV670 includes an IR Pass-Through Port, enabling the installer to connect an IR Blaster to hidden components when wall-mounting the set. The SV670 is available in 46-inch and 55-inch screen sizes (measured diagonally at 46 inches and 54.6 inches respectively). The feature-rich SV670 series, the flagship of the LCD TV lineup, combined with Toshiba’s new Blu-ray disc player, the BDX2000, offers home theater installers the ultimate high-definition audio and video experience.
