I have one question...does the toshiba 50h81 take a 480i signal and process it into a 480p all the time or just dvd's?
this is why I ask this question; New IDSC-Pro (Intelligent Digital Scan Conversion) (540p/1080i). It is listed as having on the 50h81.

The new Toshiba mddels will upconvert any incoming signal to 540p. 1080i sources will be left in their native resolution. Also, if you were to input a 540p source, it would also remain untouched. All other sources, 480i, 480p etc. will be converted to 540p. This occurs regardless of it being a cable, satellite, DVD, VHS or any other type of feed.
