Does the Toshiba 50H81 (16:9) offer 720p? The manual says 480i/480p/540p/1080i, but I was wondering if it could also do 720p. Also, do ANY 16:9 HDs do 720p, or is it restricted to just the 4:3 aspect ratio TVs?
    Thanks

The Toshiba up converts the 720p to 1080i, Panasonic is one of the few manufactures in their earlier sets use to offer 720p but HTF memenbers tell me that is no longer offered,it appears that 1080i is becoming the standard. Only ABC broadcasts in 720p.
    I own a Toshiba 56H81 and it broadcast 480 and 1080

Thanks James. I was wondering about how things were going to pan out. Just quickly though...does the Toshiba automatically upconvert, or is it done by the HD receiver?
    Thanks

Not a very good answer here. I believe some of the set top box upconverts.
I have a dish 6000 and there is an upconvert from analog to digital, but the 720 to 1080 is done within the set. I was told that the Toshiba has the ability to receive about 16 different sources of programming. You will not find that in the manual I got it from the service technician
