Guys I recently purchased the Toshiba 30HF85 30" TV from where I work.. got a REALLY good deal since I get things at cost.. Anyways what can I expect with this tv? I was going to purchase the JVC HD-ILA 52" but it was just too big for my family room... Passed a good deal there but any-who.... About this TV.. What's a good HDMI dvd player to get that plays Divx/Xvid?? Thanks!!

I recently purchased this TV and am very pleased. In the showroom it was beating its peers in color quality hands down.

    hi guys

you do not want to use HDMI on this display.

This TV is not made by Toshiba...it is a rebadged Orion (A Walmart brand). I only recommend this display if it is the only thing in your price range.

    Regards

    Gregg

A sort of side question to this, and I'm sure someone will know here.

I just picked up the 26" version of this TV (and yes, Gregg, it was the only one I could afford - but at $449, I thought it was a hell of a deal) And I wanted to use it with my video editing as a widescreen playback device.

I'm planning to upgrade to a dual g5 mac tower soon, and one of the reasons I liked this tv was the HDMI input which I understood to be DVI compatible, so I was planning to use it directly with the new mac.

However, when I open the manual I see in 3 places that it shouldn't be used with a computer.

My question is - why? Will it destroy the TV, or will it just not work, or is it just "not recommended". I don't want to do it if it will damage the TV, but if it's merely frowned upon, I'd go ahead and see what results I got...
