The black bar at the top of the screen on an anamorphic 2.31:1 disc curves up slightly on the right hand side? Any ideas what this is and if it can be corrected???

    HI,
This is not a black bar problem but a geometry problem and is correctable via the service menu which is meant for service techs and not tweekers [IMG].

    PS:

A simple solution that will cost less than $10 is making some black mattes to cover the letterboxing. It is a great tweak too.

    HI!
If it is truly "slightly" a service tech wont touch it and will just say "its within specs".
YOu can give it a go on your own, its not that hard to do. Check out this site:
    http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/index.htm
Go to the Tosh area and look for geometry instructions.
    Lots of luck,
    Gregg

It's a geometry issue. Fortunately in an RPTV you can fix this. I fixed mine up by making a convergance grid overlay and converging to the grid.
You have probably seen the 9 point user convergance option in the menu's. There is also a 56 point conversion in the service menu that many owners use to get their convergance and geometry as accurate as possible. You might also want to check the Toshiba forum at www.hometheatersport.com

It absolutely is something that even the novice tweeker can handle and fix. I did it with no probs.. Check the Toshiba Tweaks section at the SPot. The 56pt convergence will fix that right up...Just be aware that you DO need to be VERY careful in that service menu..
