Got a new 50H81 last September, and since then the display cuts out when watching DVD's.

    - It's only done it about 4 times in three months

    - It only seems to happen when watching DVD's (Color Stream 1)

    - The picture disappears for about 8 to 10 seconds and then returns, but I can still hear the sound, so the disc hasn't stopped.

    - There seems to be a click when the picture cuts out and again when it returns.

Any ideas? I don't suppose it could be the DVD player (Sony S570D)

    Anyhow, thanks for any input.

    Randy

I think this thread from Home Theater SPot might shed a little light on the subject:
    http://www.hometheaterspot.com/ubb/u...&f=21&t=003269
Similar to what was happening to my new 43uwx10b Hitachi. Stopped after about 3 weeks.
Has to do with the new CRTs curing and discharging static buildup.
Looks like yours is more than 3 months in service?
If it's still doing it regularly I think you might want to have it checked out.
    Good luck.

    Thanks, Mike

By coincidence, I had just found that thread when your message came through...I hope it's nothing more serious than the curing of the CRT's - occurrences are separated by days or weeks...

    Cheers
