So not to get buried under a dozen layers of the topic "Gay Friendly DVD's", has anyone heard if Columbia is ever going to release Torch Song Trilogy? It is a bit dated now but still has an impact for anyone watching... Gay or Straight! It is a good introduction movie for those who don't really understand the gay way of life and the obsticles they are up against daily.

Me too - I am so waiting for this on DVD. Fantastic film. Thankfully Victor / Victoria is now on its way. Would also love the mid 1970's film "The Ritz" too!

I'd vote for Torch Song Trilogy. I can't bring myself to watch the p&s @&$@(!! VHS version I have. It needs to be on DVD / OAR. How about posting this on the Studio Feedback forum?

I'd love to see a nice 16x9 "Beautiful thing" (also columbia). I keep seeing the R0 hong-kong disc but don't want a 4x3 transfer with english subtitles and spoken french!

I saw it on LD when LD was at the height of it's popularity but didn't buy it. Now I feel like kicking myself for not buying it.

Come on release it on DVD already whoever owns the right to it.

BTW, Columbia? I know this movie is a "catalog" title and all but um....when it does come to DVD, make sure you include a widescreen version please. Your history dealing with catalog titles makes a lot of us worry since you (for whatever reason) have issued several of them full screen only.

I would also love to see this film released on DVD. I also wish we could get "Jeffrey" released in the US! (widescreen, 16x9 enhanced please!!)

Wait, are we *sure* Columbia owns it? The amazon.com listing for the VHS release says it's New Line........

Damn, Michael, you're good! :)
I have the VHS box sitting right here, and it
says it is "New Line Cinema" along with
"Turner Home Entertainment."
So, it looks like this might be a Warner Bros.
owned title since New Line Cinema is their company,
as is, I believe is Turner Home Entertainment.
(I miss you posting in a certain thread, Mr. Allred;
You're so damn smart, funny and opinionated!)
:)
Regards,
Mark

I would also snap up Torch Song Trilogy and Beautiful Thing --two of my fave gay-themed films (along with Priscilla , Edge of Seventeen , and Hedwig (hmmm . . I just noticed that 3 of the 5 have drag or transgendered themes).

I always cry at the end of Torch Song, & watching Matthew Broderick kiss Brian Kerwin is still a thrill.
