A gorgeous film by Carroll Ballard, but given that it is a Disney live action property more than 10 years old, I have almost no hope.

I just merged two threads on the same subject. So you may now find some duplication within this thread. But not TOO much! :D

I will second Angela's Ashes and The Secret Garden.

And add: Barton Fink, The Straight Story, Simon Burch, Cobb and Cannibal: The Musical. :D

I see Little Man Tate is due for an April 28th release!

    Well. How about that?!?

Ordered! I'll report back here once I confirm it'll play in Region A.

    Thanks a ton, Konstantinos!

EDIT: By the way it came to $20.82 (US) including shipping. Amazon says it'll be here around April 11-12! We'll see. I'm doubtful. I've ordered one other Japanese Blu--Mel Brooks' The Producers (Lane/Broderick).

    OMG.

1.) Ordered from amazon.jp on Monday afternoon, April 6th.

2.) Get a text message Tuesday night from DHL that my "shipment" (I had no idea what shipment) was scheduled for delivery on Wednesday--and that if I couldn't be there to sign...to leave a signed note with the tracking number. This turned out to be quite helpful as we were at a doctor's appointment when the truck arrived.

3.) On Wednesday afternoon, April 8th...my golden retriever Ike safely received the package! He assured me he would have signed for the package himself, if it weren't for that darned opposable thumb thing:

I don't have all the time references correct because of the different time zones involved...but the DHL tracking says the package left Amazon's warehouse in Fukuoka, Japan on April 7th...was shipped to Tokyo...and arrived at Customs in Cincinnati...all on the same day.

Then today (April 8th), the package arrived at the DHL facility in Cincinnati, was processed, and later arrived at Latham, NY (another suburb of Albany--as is Rensselaer) and was on a truck to me at 10:30 this morning! It arrived at my door at 4:10pm.

    THAT is crazy.

The 1990's is far from my favorite decade film-wise. Still, I would welcome:

    Cyrano de Bergerac (1990)

    Black Robe (1991)

    Rambling Rose (1991)

    Dogfight (1991)

    Crisscross (1992)

    Red Rock West (1993)

i have heard of 2-3 days for a shipment to arrive from amazon.co.jp even to Europe.

Apparently they use only priority or something shipping.

    I haven't used amazon yet.

I bought till now Ghibli Blurays from YesAsia and waited for a month!!!!

Next time, I'm gonna use amazon to see for myself!

Hope you enjoy your disc! ;)

There's not that many 90's films I'd like, but I would like the remake of The Getaway 1994, I enjoy it as much as the original. It was down for a release in Germany late last year, but then it disappeared from the lists.

Just watched another film that I found great (actually I had seen it again some 15 years ago but didn't remember much) and would love a Bluray:

It's like a "Stand by Me" with girls.

    Ideal for summer viewing! ;)

This year it's its 20th anniversary!

    Well...this is embarassing.

amazon/japan gets me this disc in record time and I don't actually watch it until four months later.

But let me tell anyone who might be interested that this was one of the most "film like" transfers I've ever seen. The resoilution was crystal clear...and there were even occasional white and black specks which weren't scrubbed clean during the transfer. Just a beautiful film beautifully reproduced. And the audio was incredible. The beautiful score was the highlight of the disc...and there was even impressive LFE throughout...during lightning and engine sequences.

As far as it being a Japanese release, when I put the disc in the player...it just started to play the film. It defaulted to Japanese subtitles, however. A quick call-up of the menu (in English! ) and the subtitles were gone.

Oh. And even though David Lynch is known not to like them...the disc had chapter stops.

This such a special film and an absolutely gorgeous representation of it.

With Thanksgiving approaching i wanted to mention again a great film that should be on Bluray:

    AVALON (1990)

Too bad that they missed it's 25th anniversary this year. :(

I see there was a Mill Creek DVD released.

So, would the Bluray be Mill Creek territory?

Or maybe someone else has the rights for Bluray release?

Another question: Does anyone know who has the rights for Shadowlands (1993)?

Could this be a TT title?
