I bought Tom Brown's School Days on DVD yesterday. I was saddened by the fact that it was not released by a major studio - Alpha Video, if memory serves. Furthermore, absolutely no restoration was done to this film. The best thing I can say is that at least it is now on disc and won't disappear forever. Does anyone know who holds the rights to this RKO classic and if a restored DVD is in the works?

I dont know who holds the right to the film version, however you might be interested in the four hour version
that Acorn Media has just released. It was the second or third presentation on Masterpiece theater.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, my interest is limited to the original 1940 film.:frowning: The movie in its current state isn't "unwatchable" by any measure. It's just that so much more could and should be done for this picture.
