Today’s Blu-Ray Movie Price Drops (3 Viewers)

Be aware that is a Region B/2 release.

I only know this because I just recently purchased a Region 1/A version (including 2CDs) for $32.98 from Amazon. FWIW, I think the Blu's PCM stereo tracks sound much better than the DTS 5.1 tracks.

The back cover indicates region A/B/C (and it's a Universal release, which are nearly always all-region). Amazon's listings for European releases often default to Region B/2 even when they're not.

My concern is that the fine print indicates that despite this being a blu-ray, the content is merely "upscaled" standard def.

That would be right for the era - the show would have been shot on standard definition videotape. But, and for me it’s a big but, the Blu-ray format allows for much higher quality audio than a DVD, and the extra space on a BD and superior compression codecs used also make for a much better quality presentation of the standard definition video than you’d get on a DVD. I don’t have this specific release but I have a few others of a similar vintage and there is definitely an improvement having it on a BD rather than a DVD.
