OK folks, here's an email I sent to a friend of my fa thers who fixes things on the side. I want to see if he's right, and if it's worth fixing the Sony DVP NS300, or just buy a new model..
>>Problem: For some reason, it makes a sort of clicking/whirring noise when a disc is inserted. After about a minute, it says no disc Inserted when it's still in the player.>>>
>>Answer:Laser is not 'seeing' the disc. I've never changed one on a DVD player, but a fellow repairman told me it's a common failure. Your laser assy costs about $65 [wholesale] for the part alone. How much was the player? Can you yell and scream at Sony [use the 800 number in the manual] to get satisfaction?>>>>
The player was bought in December 2001, so any 1 year warranty would have been long gone.
Any suggestions?
