Just received my Grinch DVD... I missed the film at the cinema, but I'm wondering whether or not I should watch it now or wait for Xmas. Is this the sort of film that you need to be of festive cheer to appreciate? And if I do watch it now, is it good enough to watch again at Xmas?

    Opinions please!

(n.b. I hope Polls is the right place for this thread...)

Go ahead and Grinch. If it is/was intended as a Christmas gift, don't Grinch.

"To Grinch, or not to Grinch. That is the question."

For me, this movie, like some others, can be watched anytime of year. Another that comes to mind is Christmas Vacation. Some of that chaos seems to happen anytime of year.

I grinched the day I got it and will do so again a couple times before Christmas day.

I'm with Neil. For some reason this film did not appeal to me. [IMG] But I may watch it.

I've deliberated for days whether or not to buy this DVD, but I think yesterday I decided I'll rent first. Didn't see it in the theater, so I don't know if it's any good and comments I've read have been very mixed. I'm also not sure if I would watch it in other times of the year, and if I'm only going to Grince once/year, is it worth it to own? Ah, who am I kidding, if I rent it and enjoy it, I'll end up owning it.

For me, this film exsist's outside of what any film critic think's of it. I read Roger Ebert's review and thought that he was way off base with this one.
Point is, don't listen to critic's on this movie, just watch and enjoy. The movie is just a fun and joyous ride that's all, it has a great message in it that Christmas is about the one's we love rather than gifts. And it doesn't try to replace the original classic cartoon we all grew up with and love, IMO it's more of an homage to Dr. Seuss. I think that he would have been proud at how the film tuned out.
So just let your green hair down, and Grinch away![IMG]
