Does anyone have any info on how the TN1225HO sounds in HT and music, or is the VTF-2 a better fit if you use it half for HT and half for music.

The TN series allows more flexibility in terms of amp/crossover combination. It allows for active HP/LP crossover, different amps, so you can integrate it into a 2ch or HT (LFE or mains) system. The VTF-2 is more or less a straight LFE sub, but usuable for bass augmentation on 2ch systems.

So if you are using it you HT system via the LFE/sub output, the VTF-2 is the better choice, plus it has the port plug option for more slam.

Hsu thinks the TN series sounds a little better for music, but it comes down to application.

I never understood the pricing of the VTF series, especially in relation to the TN subs. I though a properly braced wood cabinet is alot more expensive to make than a paper tubed one, but the VTF subs seem to be cheaper than their TN series, especially with the widespread number of dealers pushing the VTF subs. Is the VTF series a loss/volume leader or has the Doc been using the money from his paper subs to build his mansion in Malibu?
