Tivo and Dish IR connection (1 Viewer)

I have a Dish 4922 which has an IR Extender input on the back. Is there someway to connect this via the IR or Serial outputs on the Tivo to get a better connection between these? I occasionally get dropped digits while changing channels and I'd like to find a good way to alleviate that.

I believe TiVo IR out to the Dish IR in will work. Some people have reported a similar config. working with cable boxes that have IR inputs as long as you rule out the IR blaster on the front of the TiVo sending the signal.
