I have a direct-view Mitsubishi 35-inch set (circa 1993) that still provides a great picture, but I now notice one flaw . . . tiny horizontal wavy shaped lines, mostly noticable along the edges, but on close inspection, they are present across the entire screen. These are not really noticable at all watching regular TV programming (but they are there), and only slightly visible on VHS tapes. But, on DVD, the lines can be seen more clearly. These lines do NOT cause distortion of the picture, so it isn't all that bad. My wife didn't even notice them at all until I pointed it out. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

    Hi Thomas,
It could be moire especially since your set is a directview system.
The most common fix for this is to slightly defocus the image via the mechanical focus.
More info on this here .
    Thanks,
    Errol

Errol, this is EXACTLY my problem. I will try to adjust the set myself, but I am no expert at this, so I may be forced to get a technician.
    Thanks again!
