Was this the game found in early 1992, that seemed to be generating Holograms, in a circular, white thing? This is all I seem to remember, that and I couldn't figure out how to play the thing for some reason as a kid..

But now I hear it's a popular franchise...Any info on this game?

I don't think so. Time Crisis is a light-gun game. Maybe you're thinking of Tempest?

Tempest came out in the '70s (or early '80s maybe), not '92.

Can you rephrase your description of the game? Where did you hear that it's become a franchise?

No, Time Crisis was a light gun game that used a foot pedal to allow you to pop in and out of the action (e.g. duck behind a crate to reload, then pop up and shoot some guys). There have been quite a few variants since the original relese.

The game you're thinking of is probably "Time Traveller", a sega "hologram" game that came out in the early 90s as well. Not much of a "game", but more of a tech demo.
