Can anyone tell me what supplementals this new set lacks other than the commentary in comparisson with Criterion's release?

In addition to the commentary, the Criterion disc has a "scrapbook" with a lot of interesting production stills and prop photos. This scrapbook isn't on the Anchor Bay disc.

The Anchor Bay image is an improvement over the Criterion, if for no other reason than the 16:9 enhancement. I didn't notice any great improvement in the sound.

FYI, the Columbia House DVD Club now has the Divimax version available as an enrollment.

It almost sounds as if they ran the 2.0 Dolby Stereo printmaster through a Dolby ProLogic II decoder and then out to a digital multi-track recorder, or used the 4.0 pre-Dolby Stereo tracks and added "Chase Stereo" processing to it.

The sound panning is very weird that way, as if the sound engineers didn't use the original sound stems and create a whole new 5.1 track.
