thx processing

    When engaging thx it seems that the surrounds are 3 db lower than regular dolby digital.Is this normal?I have calibrated using avia tedt tones with dolby digital.Thanks for any help

    Off the cuff, I seem to remember that Timbre Matching includes reducing the surround speaker volume a bit. As I recall, the idea was that the surround speakers are to be pointed directly to the side of your head, that is directly towards your ears, whereas fronts and center are in front of you, (and to the side of your ears).

    Did you measure a 3dB reduction? THX Re-Eq alters the response curve so it may seem like there is a reduction in SPL.

    Thanx for the replies.Greg yes i measured the reduction with an spl meter.I think Arthur is right about timbre matching and maybe the r-eq lowering the surrounds to blend better with the fronts
