I saw the trailer and was not to impressed. Looks like another wasted movie for the summer.
Got a link for the trailer?
Looks pretty bad to me.
I mean, this is "Thunderbirds" after all...
Hard to judge from that little amount of info. Looks like a "Lost in Space" type film. I won't see it in the theaters but, I may buy the DVD.
No worries guys I hear the wires will be digitally removed before release.
But I don't like the idea of the actors walking funny with their arms flopping about to try and replicate the feel of the original series, I think that's taking things a bit too far.
Not too sure what to think of that one. As a kid I loved Thunderbirds and still enjoy watching the series now. Unfortunately it looks like it has been done on the cheap and the effects look very CGI, but it could be very good. I'm looking forward to it anyway...
It's like Scooby Doo: the original stunk, so how can the remake possibly be any good?
Cliché after cliché after cliché. There's no way I'm seeing this unless there are enough good reviews. Hopefully this will be like the first two Spy Kids movies.
Was Ben Kingsley slumming? I can't understand who this movie is for. Lost In Space meets Spy Kids, and no strings attached? I'll pass...
These are my impressions as someone who only vaguely remembers the original series, and who has no memory of the storyline:
I was actually enjoying the trailer at first. The colorful, retro-cool designs had me won over... And then the kids showed up, turning it into Spy-Kids-But-Not-Really. Rental for me.
And I'll echo Keith's post. How did they get Ben Kingsley to sign up?? I guess "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" got it right:
Ben Affleck: You're like a child. What've I been telling you? First, you've gotta do the safe picture. Then you do it for art. And then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him.
Ben Affleck: And sometimes, you go back to the well.
Matt Damon: And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games.
Ben Affleck: Now that's just mean.
Man the music for the trailer sounds familiar. A lot like Gladiator and Pirates of the Carribean.
I'm with Ricardo, what's with the kids.
the tune is song 2 by blur
Definitely the biggest downer. This movie may be nominated for one of the Golden Rasberry awards just on the strength (weakness) of the trailer alone!
As a big fan of the series I was looking forward to this movie even though I'm not impressed with anything Jonathon Frakes has ever done. I liked the way they kept the same ship and costume designs, just new and improved puppets would have been the way to go; but I was prepared to accept human adults in the roles. Why did they change the characters from young adults to kids just to cash in on Spy Kids. Bad move . Looks like this will have to wait for a rental.
I DOnt like the whole kids in adult roles saving everyone idea for any movie.
OK, I actually like the campy kind of style of the original show, and was really interested in seeing this after the first teaser.
But the new trailer makes it seem seriously just like a Spy Kids movie - something not even hinted at in the firs trailer. Why the hell do I care about these stupid kids? I'd rather see the actual characters from the show in action, not their freaking kids the entire movie. LAME!!!
I was wondering why people were talking about "kids". Now, I saw the full trailer.
This is Thunderbirds almost as much as "I Robot" is Asimov.
For goodness sakes, why do we needs kids? Aren't the Tracy brothers good enough?
Have seen the Thunderbirds trailer and two things I would like to take note with.
I am pleased to see that they kept the ships original designs, instead of changing them like Lost in Space did to the Jupiter II in the movie version.
The trailer really makes it look like it's kids to the rescue kind of flick. Just really turns me off to the movie now. Probably will wait for the DVD before I see it.
