Phone booths and phone books,
big cars,
real obvious stunt doubles looking nothing like the stars. How did I not notice this growing up ?

Throwback tech? How about Frank Cannon's mobile phone ("Mobile operator, this is . . .") in that Lincoln Continental? You could probably make five Hyundais (or 9 Cooper Minis) with the metal from that beast!

The TV series LOU GRANT features a bunch of outdated tech items. When the series started, every writer was using a typewriter to submit his stories. Reporters in the field raced each other to grab available phone booths. And when they finally upgraded to "video display terminals" they were giant, clunky things.

A lot of people have disparaged the series by calling it outdated, I find it easy to slip into the time-frame of the era in which it was made.

I would say the one technology we have that would render good story plots of the past obsolete, it's a cell phone. Think of the TV movie "Duel" for instance.
