how come the optoma dv10 can project a 100inch image from just 11ft?

other projectors can only get about 70-72 inch from the same distance.

i know that jim. but why? i mean if a throw range is factor with almost all HT owners , why create a projector that is less flexibale in small rooms?

the throw range has to do with the viewing angle (or projection angle) of the lense. Think of it as a wide angle lense vs a telephoto lense. the wider the lense (for a short throw) the more distortion is added to the image. Or being said another way, it is easier to have less distortion with a long throw (telephoto) lense.
