I was all set to purchase the 37" Panasonic when I went in to read the specs again - no cablecard slot
( also no PC hookup.

These are not must haves, but would be nice. I was looking for others opinions on this set or alternative 37" displays with equal PQ - which of course is most important.

I need 37" for the width (the panny is perfect). So please do not suggest any displays wider. thanks for the help

You could certainly look at LCD. Lots of 37"-ers out there.

Cable card, at this point, is mostly a failure. The problem is spotty support from the cable companies.

For a PC input, you can buy a converter. Plus, if you get a commercial Panasonic, they do actually come with a VGA input.

Depends on why you want to hook a PC up to it. If it's mostly for daylight watching and games, then LCD is probably a better way to go. But for a better movie watching experience wth the lights down low, a plasma is still a good bet. Better blacks, better contrast, off-angle viewing, motion, etc. LCD is catching up though.
