I quite agree Andrew and indeed other factors may be at play here. The loop resistance of say 10 feet of 12 gauge is 0.032 ohms. DF's of 180 and 1000 translate to 0.044 and 0.008 ohms respectively. Summing both scenarios gives us a resistance that is about 1% of the woofer's in the worst case. Too small to be of consequence.
On other notes that may be relevant to your original comments michael, just where do you have your subs located...how are they crossed over...are you using an SPL meter?

I'm running a true biamp I have two 1075 amps (10 channels)
the two fronts and the center are being powered by 6 seperate channels( center biamped also) if 1075 and the 1080 are about the same in power and sound, what would be a step up for a amp for the fronts????

my subs Paradigm ps1000 and 2200 are in front one is on the far left and one is on the far right. the whole 7.2 setup has been spl adjusted
