My wife would like to take a vacation there this summer with the kids, and I was wondering what the main attractions are besides the beaches. Anyone have ideas for things to do in and around Charleston? Things to avoid?

    Thanks.

Patriot Point is a worthwhile visit. From there you can take a ferry to historic Fort Sumter or tour a WWII battleship.

    edited for spelling errors.

Patriot's Point has quite a few nice ships to tour, along with some other historic military equipment. Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter are both very popular, with Moultrie being quite close to some beaches over on the Isle of Palms. I don't play golf, but supposedly the Golf there is excellent. Go South of Broad (downtown Charleston) and enjoy some little shops, a walking tour, or something. If you like history, Charleston is a great place to visit.

Used to live there (and miss it),
    Chuck
