Along those lines, we have two break rooms and in one a lot of people asked to have the coffee supplier to stock them with what is a fairly premium coffee. In the other break room, the guys who frequent that room said they want JUST Folgers basic coffee in a bag to brew. It's so gross yet they think it's great compared to premium coffee. Nuts I tell ya!

If they like Folgers, there's nothing wrong with that!

I drink several cups of coffee a day and was told by my heart specialist to only drink decaf, so naturally I follow his advice.

On your second point, there is nothing I absolutely hate worse than the strong bitter brew that the coffee snobs insist on touting. I have consumed the light breakfast blend for about 55 years. Bitter is not a flavour to me. I also hate coffee that is burn your face off hot, and sometimes put an ice cube in it.

Consequently I am addicted to Tim Hortons regular decaf. at home and out. I am about to use my Keurig machine now!

Folger's Black Silk. Dark and smooth. I drink a pot of it every day.

We have work functions where coffee is brought in from these so-called coffee shops (a local one and/or Starbucks) and they always, always, are bitter and nasty tasting. People rave about them. I don't get it.

Sounds like some of my older family who all love Maxwell House ground or Taster's Choice INSTANT coffee. They all have the means to buy good coffee, but seem to be stuck in the past. I guess that's what they had when they were younger and they're just used to the taste.

I always feel a bit bad if I'm visiting their homes and they offer me a coffee and I turn it down, as they know I'm a big coffee drinker.
It's what you are used to. In college I started drinking coffee - but it was instant (my parents are not coffee drinkers and had a jar of instant in the cabinet in case someone wanted some). A girlfriend who was a very regular coffee drinker and had grown up in a coffee household was aghast at my "coffee" and got me a proper drip machine. I was converted. I can't stand instant now and, like you, will turn it down if I know that's what it is.

I have a brother-in-law who only drinks instant tea! We used to keep a jar in the house for when he'd come for a meal or visit. That stuff's worse than instant coffee.

Starbucks has one of the worst coffees I know of. I was advised to try “blond”. I thought it was only fit for spit takes.
Sounds like my Mom.

She loves dark roast coffees, but can't stand Starbucks. I'm not sure I've ever tried Starbucks.

Not sure how serious these comments are but what you deem "good coffee" may be different for others. To suggest your choice is superior undermines the other person. I personally love breakfast blend [weaker coffee] and can afford whatever I want. In the end it's just called mutual respect.

I like light, medium, and dark roasts, but my wife doesn’t like the dark, so we seldom have it at home. I like some of Starbucks but have found myself buying coffee beans at Whole Foods in Little Rock, usually from a local roaster. I’ve only had a Kureag from other people’s machines and find that it makes weak brews. I find the Folgers and Yubans to be mediocre, at best.

To each his own.

I usually stop at Starbucks and get a white chocolate mocha on the way to work every morning. At work, we use Folgers and I usually drink a couple of cups throughout the day. Weekends at home, I brew Dunkin Donuts original blend.

Starbucks and other brewers "froufrou" coffees are quite drinkable and often quite good (although significantly overpriced). That's part of what's so puzzling as their plain, black, coffees are typically bitter and, to me, practically undrinkable.

Regular Starbucks coffee tastes like an ashtray to me so I won’t have any of that. I’ll stick with my frou-frou blend. :P

My wife loves coffee, hot and cold, and frequently will order iced coffee in a restaurant. You should see the looks she's gotten when she tells the server "Iced coffee" as her drink (although it's less frequent these days with all the coffee shops and their flavored cold offerings). On more than one occasion they've turned to me with a puzzled look and I say "Just take a glass of ice and pour coffee over it." I've seen some walk away shaking their head... :D

This is how we get unsweetened ice tea in Canada. It seems to be unknown here, although it is available all over the US.

I'm looking forward to karma biting him in his attention seeking and agenda driving behind. Hope he gets blacklisted.

Ive just spent the better part of 45 minutes going through this entire discussion thread making sure I didn't duplicate anyone

As to what baffles me, Why the Tampa bay Buccaneers cannot put together a team that consistently competes. Mind you, I dont expect them to win every year like the Patriots but their ownership just cant get it right
