I can't believe that nobody has nominated Alex De Large from A Clockwork Orange.
BTW, Travis, that link at the bottom of your sig is hilarious!

Alex DeLarge isn't particularly crazy, he's just a very bad boy.
I can understand that view, but I disagree with it in light of the fact that the entire point of the movie deals with the "mental problems" of the criminal mind!

I mean Alex's main interests in life are rape, ultra-violence and Beethoven. Sounds a little crazy to me.

When Alex is finally arrested and sent to jail for his criminal actions, what do they do? They undertake a bold new method of brainwashing in an effort to "cure" him. Why "cure" him if he isn't crazy?

Well the whole point of Clockwork is that it is dangerous to try and change a person's nature and denying him free choice. Would Alex be able to plead an insanity defense in court? I would think not, as he knew full well the crimes he was commiting. If Alex is included, then every other brutal criminal or thug would be included in this tournament.

I have to agree that Alex wasn't crazy - he was just a hoodlum, albeit a particularly nasty one. To further illustrate this view, there was a final chapter in the book in which an older Alex reflects on his wild youth. I haven't read it in years so perhaps someone else can better elucidate the matter?
But thanks for nominating Santa Sangre. :emoji_thumbsup:

For your consideration:
Martin - Martin Madahas
Dracula (1931) - Renfield
Seven Samurai - Kikuchiyo
The Producers - Franz Liebkind :)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? - Baby Jane Hudson
Spellbound - John Ballantine (Duh!)
Mulholland Dr. - Betty Elms/Diane Selwyn
Targets - Bobby Thompson ;)
Seance on a Wet Afternoon - Myra Savage
Just got finished watching SOAWA. Woo-doggie, was Myra nuts!
And in the obsessed category:
The Train - Colonel Von Waldheim
The Conversation - Harry Caul ;)

I'll second:
The Ninth Configuration - Killer Kane
Sunset Blvd. - Norma Desmond
I'll third:
Silence of the Lambs - Hannibal Lecter
I'll nominate:
Arsenic and Old Lace - Aunt Abby & Aunt Martha
The Pink Panther movies - Chief Inspector Dreyfus
Suddenly Last Summer - Violet Venable
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - Fred C. Dobbs
Vampire's Kiss - Peter Loew
Is Vampire's Kiss too obscure? Nicolas Cage plays Peter Loew, a publishing executive who thinks he's becoming a vampire. One of the great performances ever.
If I can't nominate both of the aunts from Arsenic & Old Lace as a combo, substitute Baby Jane Hudson.

Ric, I was reluctant to place those suggestions on the noms list since most of them are kind of obscure. Ah, what the hell...
Well, I've seen Vampire's Kiss so...well, I guess it is obscure! :D
But no more obscure than most of my suggestions above.
Anyway, great noms!
Aunt Martha and Aunt Abby are okay - it'd be cool to match them up with the two girls from Heavenly Creatures. Again, a few of these "doublers" are fine, but let's not overdo it. :)
Five more noms, five more seconds, and five more thirds to everyone who has participated thus far.
List updated.

Five more noms? Great, because I had trouble cutting my list.
I'll nominate:
Barton Fink - Charlie Meadows/Karl "Madman" Mundt
Dr. Strangelove - Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper
Female Trouble - Dawn Davenport
Misery - Annie Wilkes
A Streetcar Named Desire - Blanche DuBois
Here's the IMDB summary for the relatively obscure Female Trouble: The life and times of Dawn Davenport, showing her progress from loving schoolgirl to crazed mass murderer - all of which stems from her parents' refusal to buy her cha-cha heels for Christmas. She runs away from home, is raped, becomes a single mother, criminal and glamorous model before her inevitable rendezvous with the electric chair...
I'll second:
Cape Fear - Max Cady
Dracula (1931) - Renfield
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Raoul Duke/Hunter S. Thompson
Mulholland Dr. - Betty Elms/Diane Selwyn
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? - Baby Jane Hudson

I can't believe I didn't think of this one sooner, but since I used up all my nominations, hopefully someone else will nominate John Nash from A Beautiful Mind.

Gabe, good picks!

Richard, in my previous post, I doled out more noms so consider John Nash nominated.

I also added:

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - Dr. Caligari
The Caine Mutiny - Captain Queeg
Tombstone - Johnny Ringo (kinda iffy)

Nominate:
Margaret White - Carrie (Piper Laurie)
Caligula - Caligula (Malcolm McDowell)
Henry - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (Michael Rooker)
Bruno Antony - Strangers on a Train (Robert Walker)

Second:
Martin Madahas - Martin (John Amplas)
Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper - Dr. Strangelove (Sterling Hayden)
Dawn Davenport - Female Trouble (Divine)
Annie Wilkes - Misery (Kathy Bates)

Still have one nom, a couple seconds, and a whole mess of thirds.

I'll nominate:

Melvin Udall(Jack Nicholson) - As Good As It Gets
David Helfgott(Geoffrey Rush) - Shine
Sgt. Barnes(Tom Berenger) - Platoon
Roy Neary(Richard Dreyfus) - Close Encounters of the Third Kind (This nomination may be iffy, but his obsession with understanding what he saw drove his family away and led to irrational behavior).

One nomination left (or two if Neary doesn't count).

Actually, I'm going to take Neary and toss Udall - the latter's obsessive qualities are ultimately overcome (more or less) while Neary's obsession leads him to leave his family for a completely unknown quantity.
List updated.
I've also added some more of my own:
Obsessives
King Kong - King Kong
Lolita - Humbert Humbert
Women! :rolleyes::D
Also: Pi - Max Cohen
Crazies
Frailty - Adam Meiks
Affliction - Wade Whitehouse

I don't see why that excludes someone from the tournament. I was considering seconding Udall, if not for the fact that this tournament is already too heavy on the Nicholson.

Humbert Humbert isn't that crazy, he's mostly just pervy. Anyway, you should specify whether you mean James Mason or Jeremy Irons.

Speaking of Jeremy Irons, I think I'll use my last nomination on:

Beverly & Elliot Mantle - Dead Ringers (Jeremy Irons)
