Or so quotes the local radio station. Apparently the 'rule' is that they have to pass within a week to count. Has anyone else heard this?

First it's Barry White, now it's Buddy Epson, who's next? So far the 'rule' seems to be in check.

Luther Vandross isn't doing all that well either.

Katharine Hepburn just passed (within a week?). Perhaps she was the first of the "three"?

    There was also Buddy Hackett.

I heard Vandross is doing better.

Within the last couple of weeks White was #6, but I can't recall all of the names. Some are not known by everybody, which sort of sucks. This whole sucks, but this is life.

You can always find a pattern, like groups of 3, if you look for it. Lots of people die every day. A lot of whether the deaths fit the pattern depends on who you consider to be famous. Clearly people like Hepburn, Hackett, Ebsen, etc. are household names, but there are plenty of others who are only famous to those familiar with their work (character actors from old TV shows and movies, etc.).

There's a great "trouble always comes in threes" scene in Frank Capra's "Why We Fight" series. They show side by side photos of Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito, and the dialog goes like this: "They say trouble always comes in threes. Take a good look at these faces - remember them well. If you ever meet them, don't hesitate." I presume that the last meant that you were to use your weapon accordingly....[IMG]

This must be the season for celebrities to die. David Brinkley, Gregory Peck, Hume Cronyn, Katharine Hepburn, Buddy Hackett, Barry White, and now Buddy Ebsen. Funny how things like this do seem to come in bunches.

I work at a nursing home and I can GUARANTEE you, when someone dies, two more people will die real soon. Ive seen it happen on AT LEAST 5 different occasions.
Its strange stuff but its true.

Especially if you keep unplugging their life support so you can plug in your home theater equipment. [IMG]

The Baby Boomer generation is getting on so many of the celebrities we all grew up with (or that 60/70's TV ingrained in our memories) will start leaving us...Cest La Vie.

Wow man, people who are reaching the end of the average lifespan of a human being die within a short-time of each other! Amazing. Wow. Like, just wow. That's way out there.

Old people in a nursing home...dropping like flies in bunches...incredible.

Human nature is just amazing. We are really bad at understanding probability and statistics, and it shows...

Buddy Hackett, Buddy Ebsen, and _______. If I was a famous "Buddy" then I would be checking up on my life and medical insurance.
