    Hello!

I am building a CWAL bass trap and have all the required materials except thermafiber mineral wool padding. Since I am stationed overseas with the military (mailing address is in San Francisco, though), I need to find someone who can mail six sheets of 1-1/2 inch thick, 24 in x 48 in thermafiber via USPS Priority Mail to zip code 96362. Does anyone know an online vendor who could do this? I am losing hope!

    Thanks!

Have you asked the manufacturer (or checked their website) for information about their distributors and dealer/vendors?

    http://www.thermafiber.com/

If you can't find anything helpful from them, let me know. I have a couple more links you can try.

Looking at the sound absorption coefficients, Owens-Corning 703 2" fiberglass board should do the same thing, doubled to 4". They may be a lot easier to find, also. Look for insulation distributors.

  4. Knauff also has a "703" fiberboard. I got a bunch of it a while ago. I'll look to see if I can find the company's number. They were willing to work with me on $$ too [IMG]

    Thanks for all the replies!

Yes, I have contacted the manufacturer, but they are dragging their feet a bit and I am losing hope.

As for alternatives, the plans for this bass trap require fairly rigid spacing between alternating layers of thermafiber and half inch bubble wrap within an enclosure I have already built, so I do not have a lot of flexibility. Any other fiber pads would have to have the same thickness as thermafiber and very similar acoustic properties.

Any ideas where I can get something like this?

  6. The pannels I got are actually 24"x48"x1.5" with one nude face and the other foil backed.

here is a link to the product I got:
    http://www.knauffiberglass.com/index...dlist&Cat_ID=1

    in particular:
    http://www.knauffiberglass.com/index...odDetail&ID=12

They are sold in boxes of 8 boards (so that the thickness adds to 12"). Other thicknesses are also available at the 12" rule. They also have all sorts of densities available with different backing (or lack there of). This means that you will be able to get exactly what you are looking for.

This is the company that I got my Knauf insulation from:
    KARCHER ENVIRONMENTAL INCORPORATED
    2300 E ORANGEWOOD AVE, ANAHEIM, CA 92806

You may find some help in this directory:

    http://dmoz.org/Business/Constructio...re/Insulation/

Then again, maybe not. I didn't check out any of these links personally, so I can't say if any of them are what you are looking for. Of the links listed, you may want to look at Isolina, Roxul Insulation, and "thermal insulation by the E. J. Davis Co." first. Good luck, and keep us posted. If I can think of or find anything else, I'll post it.
