Well really great news for all the fans, but this film never really did it for me, I suppose I just love the Harryhausen/Herrmann team. As I remember, Warner released it as a support feature to the western, The Good Guys & The Bad Guys in the UK...buy enjoy!

So happy about this. Found the announcement on FB and there's no date of release. Does WAC do this often. I'd sure like to know when it will be released.

One commenter said it was a remaster of an old, inferior transfer.

They've announced all of March, so this is likely for April.

:D enuff said, or so i thought, this is great, Harryhausen titles are always fun. and this might be the last one,of his feature length, films to be released. i know i have jumped at the opportunity every time one was listed. I just would hope that this would lead to some of George Pal's work finally surfacing. You know same old song and dance, War of the Worlds, The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, When Worlds Collide, and one Cinerama Title........ The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm

Yes this will be an April release. They are releasing 4 new blus every month. This was delayed for awhile until a new master could be made so the commenter was probably referring to a previous international blu ray release that use an old transfer.
There has been no international blu-ray release of Gwangi prior to this announcement.

WAR OF THE WORLDS and WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE are Paramount titles, so who knows when we'll see these. I have viewed both films on HD masters and they're good, but not spectacular. WAR OF THE WORLDS has a very high demand, so why this has been passed over all these years is puzzling and maddening.

DR. LAO is a much better possibility, and will probably come from the Archives, maybe even this year (along with TOM THUMB?).

BROTHERS GRIMM has been talked about endlessly in these forums, including by me, and it just doesn't look promising, according to reports about the condition of the film elements and the projected cost of preparing a proper edition. The telecasts of the film on TCM remain pretty shoddy-looking. We might eventually get a 2.35:1 non-Smilebox edition, but even that is damned iffy. Like everyone, I hope beyond hope that WB will front the cost of a full restoration, as this is the sole remaining 3-panel Cinerama film not yet released as a Smilebox Blu-ray.

Finally, one of my favorites, even with the dubbing! Day one purchase to finally complete my Harryhausen BD collection. Now, will ANIMAL WORLD ever be released?

When you put aside the cool 9-minute Harryhausen sequence, this "documentary" is pretty much a bust. The live-action animal footage is mediocre at best, and the two-person narration is silly and childish, denigrating anything seen onscreen for the sake of a laugh. I saw this film as a kid in 1956, and was in awe of the dino sequence, which has affected me to this day. In 1956, I had my parents buy me the View Master slide set, and couldn't get enough of the dinosaurs. But who remembers any other part of the 80-minute film? It's an awful movie when taken in full. That WB has an MOD of it speaks highly of the company, but, in truth, only those wonderful 9 minutes make the film worth owning.
