I believe morning wood also "helps" with getting me the pee shivers.....

In scientific terms:

Morning wood + having to go badly => pee shiver

And, for the thread-hijacking shower peeing people:

Morning wood + having to go badly + going in the shower = clean toilet floor

There is an art to peeing with morning wood, i'm the master of it...

You've got to stand at least 4' from the toilet and create a perfect arc, then when your pressure drops off, you've got to inch your way ever closer to the toilet to maintain your target area. If you do it just right, not a single drop will hit the floor.

And if you want to make it interesting, open the blinds first to let some sun in, if you pee into the rays you'll get a really pretty rainbow to start your day!

I find that when I have a cold, that the shower is a perfect place to blow my noise and hoik up what's in my throat. The steam has a loosening effect.

I don't know about "total blockage" but it sure as hell hurts to pee in this state sometimes & if I really gotta go even that's not going to stop me.
I had a girlfriend ask why men get this in the morning.....I told her that men's penises are merely emulating the sun, she asked "what about sunset though?" ...well..the sun is always rising somewhere in the world.

i don't know if this has been mentioned, but piss-shiver was a topic at straightdope.com and if i recall they never definitively explained the phenomena.
