In watching this I couldn't help but be impressed with Morricone's score for this one!! Wheter it was the main theme or the secondary themes this score has it all!!

So what are your thoughts?

YES! The title sequence really jams, and the Heroes theme is as exuberant as Morricone's Ecstasy of Gold or Showdown from the Leone spaghetti westerns. IMHO, The Untouchables marks Ennio Morricone's best post-1970 musical score.

I'm probably alone in this view, but I actually don't like the film's main theme. I love Morricone but it just always seemed over the top and more like a zany TV theme to me. Fitting because the movie's based on a show, but I don't feel it meshes too well with the film.

Watching the movie too. Funny the music stuck out to me as well. But it sounds like some tv movie of the week music to me.

One of the great scores of the 80s, and it MAKES the movie. Not just my opinion - watch the supplements on the new SE and you'll find out the actors feel the same way.

The score for this movie is great, along with so many others that Morricone wrote. It is hard to believe that he has never won an Oscar. Perhaps they'll give him an honorary one soon!
