. Tess was listed as 1979 at IMDB which is why it is in the list. If this is wrong, and it came out in 1980 then I will delete it. Does anyone know for sure?
I checked several different sources, they all agree that Tess came out in 1979.

I updated the list with all your suggestions except those such as "Luna", 1900, Four Flies on Grey Velvet, etc. whose original language is not English (although some of these are borderline). I'm still not sure if I will be adding Foreign Films to the list but if I do I will add all the Foreign films mentioned so far and any others suggested.

Capatain Kronos I have listed under the title "Kronos", but I added the alternate title after it.

Thank you all again for your suggestions. I'm glad to see that there are others interested in films from this great decade of cinema.

I tend to mentally organize by actors & directors, seeing Pete's listing of Telefon ( amongst his other excellent selections. Invasion of the Bee Girls - YES!! ) reminded me of these Charles Bronson films not on the current list...

Stone Killer, The 1973
Mr. Majestyk 1974
Breakout 1975
St. Ives 1976
From Noon Till Three 1977

I swear, I was just about to mention The Mechanic, my favorite Charles Bronson flick! Let me second that one.

What a very impressive list; I'm especially glad to see that you've already listed the Altmans I want so badly (California Split, The Long Goodbye, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, and most of all, 3 Women)

The only flick I want enthusiastically from the 70s that I don't see on the list yet is the 1973 musical of Tom Sawyer.

I'd give my left nut for a disc of The In-Laws, the hilarious buddy comedy with Falk and Arkin from '79. OAR, with a yack-track from the pricipals, and possibly director Arthur Hiller and writer Andrew Bergman would sweeten the deal immeasureably. C'mon Warner! Serpentine!!
Also, Universal's current full-frame version of Friedkin's Sorceror ('77) has got to go!! OAR and 5.1 remix (score by Tangerine Dream...mmm, tangerines :D ) plus a commentary from admitted DVD fan William Friedkin are a must!!
Great thread, guys! Cheers!

Here are some Alistair Maclean thrillers that I had forgotten to mention in my previous post:

I was about to mention "Where eagles dare" until I realized that it was a 1969 movie.
This one is an English language film, but from Australia:

Tis the season for this one and Scrooge (starring Albert Finney) has been mentioned. However, I'd love it if it had an isolated soundtrack or a CD soundtrack release accompanied it. Cheers. :D

I second Mark Hamill's Corvette Summer. A classic!

Also the Seven-Ups. I had hoped that this and the tv-movie Popeye Doyle could have been included in Fox's French Connection box... even though the Seven-Ups aren't the same characters, I always considered it an unofficial spin-off of the French Connection.

Also, GOD TOLD ME TO, which features an early appearance by Andy Kaufman, is one of the 40 DVD films that come with a subscription to Total Movie Magazine... but I'm not sure if that counts as 'released' and I doubt that the quality will be much better than that of a VHS tape.

I have updated the list again with everyone's suggestions.
The following films were not added due to:
TV
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark ("Sally...Sally...")
Spectre
UFO Incident
Year of Release
Day Time Ended
Illustrated Man, The
Foreign
All Godzilla Films
Hard Times is already out on DVD.
Sorcerer was intenionaly full frame due to William Fiedkins choice. He did not want the film to be widescreen on home video & he personaly oversaw the full frame transfer. I have thus not added it to my list.
Norm -
Omega Man, Straight Time, The Wind & The Lion , Scarecrow and Panic In Needle Park were already on my list but I'm glad to see that you are a fan of these also.
Again, thanks to all.
