If you didn't purchase it yet take a look at the Harman/Kardon AVR-125, if you already did then you made a very good purchase as well. I looked at the 501 a while back and was almost tempted to buy it, not a bad piece.

Onkyo vs. H/K. Must be the most asked question on the forum. Good choice though. Onkyo has great remote, ergonomics and ease of use and set-up. Perfect for your brother in-law. I have an H/K 520 by the way and love playing with all those bells and whistles. Gene

Thanks... The component video switching really swayed me to it over the HK AVR125. It just seems more HT friendly over the long haul. Well and 6.1 too.
