It's interesting that this will be available on Blu-ray, but yet we still don't have the Stooges' shorts on Blu-ray.
I totally agree, and most of the STOOGE-O-RAMA content is native 480p! While the upconversion isn't necessarily pointless, depending on the amount of care taken, why not also release the Stooges Columbia shorts that already have existing 2k scans on Blu-ray?

CHEERS! :)

I'd not heard of the documentary "STOOGES: THE MEN BEHIND THE MAYHEM" so looked it up to get some reviews - mainly because there are *lots* of Stooges documentaries out there and most are just not very well done, rip each other off, and/or simply regurgitate commonly known facts with the "not very well done" being the most common type.

That documentary is available to stream free on youtube from Sprocket Vault (aka Kit Parker Films - distributor of this release):

It is quite good. While most of it consists of known information it's well produced, looks much better than most Stooge documentaries, and involves several family members and associates of the Stooges. Watching that documentary made me excited about this release - in spite of owning several documentaries about the "trio."

Although I have this documentary on DVD and have viewed it several times, I ended up watching this entire YouTube presentation. Very nice!

Yeah, I'm aware that some shorts are scattered as bonuses, but just surprised they haven't released yet any of their own collections.

Especially since the Stooge shorts would probably sell better than the features they've been added as bonuses to.

Think that is a missed golden opportunity, when the originals came out in two year sets in the beginning was hoping the HD releases would follow after..... still waiting

Someone from Sony told me 6 years ago: "This has come up various times, and its fallen off the schedule. We will probably be looking at it again, soon, as the Masters of most of these shorts look fantastic, and would hold up nicely on BD."

And here are, 6 years later, and still zero signs of the shorts on BR.

Maybe another missed opportunity, here?

A non-faded, 16mm print of Kook's Tour purported to be a workprint complete with all tape splices, which had outtakes attached at the end of the reel, was offered for open sale (and on EPay) about 2 years ago for around $9k or so.

Could this be the print that the outtakes came from? Or, is the collection of outtakes something that has circulated between private collectors all along?

If these clips came from that particular print mentioned, why not transfer the whole thing with better picture and sound that what has been commercially available, prior?

Or, could a decent print of Kook's Tour be something for a future release?

Just musing.

I think the KOOKS TOUR outtakes on this set were in the Nate Sanders auction of Moe's estate a few years ago. A lot of the archival audio in this set was in the same auction.

That lot mentions a KOOKS TOUR outtakes reel.

Love it! Thanks for the info!

I guess that leaves the only other 16mm print option-- the one that guy keeps trying to sell for a measly $35k. Rotsa ruck, right? Lulz!!!
